The Epirus Health Study is an innovative prospective cohort study designed to investigate the aetiology of complex multifactorial chronic diseases in Greece. A total of 10,000 residents of Epirus, aged 25-70 years, will be recruited. Participation in the study is free.
Our ultimate goal is to improve the overall health status of the Greek population, which will be achieved by the identification and validation of novel, personalized algorithms for prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of major chronic diseases.
Are you a permanent resident of Epirus aged 25-70?
A combination of questionnaires will be used that will be filled in by participants with the help of interviewers to collect specific information.
Clinical measurements, blood pressure and blood pressure will be performed on all participants and spirometry, electrocardiography and heart ultrasound will be performed on a selected number of participants.
Biological blood, urine, saliva and faecal samples will be collected (optional), which will measure biochemical markers and carry out genomic, proteomic and metabolomic analysis.
